Hey Everybody.

I'm putting together a system for my truck to replace the stolen stuff.

I started off with a Compustar FM alarm system, and got the windows tinted. Its a 98 f150 regular cab.

I picked up an old school Soundstream usa 204 amp, and my buddy made some 6x8 to 5.25 adapters out of plexi for me.

I'm looking for a good set of 5.25 round speakers. I'm going for Sound quality only.

I was thinking of mbquarts, but sounddomain doesn't carry the 5.25's anymore.

What do you guys think about JBL also?

Thanks,
Justin

If going for sq I would really go with a 6.5 component set, alot more low to mid frequencys will be improved     we run alpine type r's personally    but quart makes great stuff,    also remember when going for sq your amp is going to make a huge diffrent   s/n diff and such like that

Jeffs got the answer with the component sets. I tell alot of people to set your budget on what you want to spend on them and then just go listen to as many as you can and then you make the choice. Just remember the demo's in the store dont sound exactly the same as in your car but it gives you a good idea of what your getting.

Guys, isn't it hard to fit 6.5s into 6 X 8 holes?  And there are baffles already built for the new ones.  I would look for the quarts from somebody besides sounddomain, then, if they don't carry them anymore.  JBL has some great components in the higher line, but I don't know if it includes the 5.25s.

Build the box so that it performs well in the worst case scenario and, in return, it will reward you at all times.

not really steve, yes sometimes it take a little adjustments. but hey if your gonna go sq why now go with the best all around internal speaker size in my opinion,   yes I run 6.5 in the front and 5.25 in the rear, but I am really considering going to 6.5's in the rear also

interesting. Well I already have plates made up, so I'd like to use them and stick with 5.25'' speakers.

Are the old stock soundstream (usa made) coaxials any good?

What about boston acoustics?

I'm trying to hunt down the 5.25'' quarts, but having some bum luck.

Thanks,
Justin

Most Boston Acoustics are usually pretty decent sound but like most manufactors , the have thier high end and thier low end. Like I said before , you just need to listen to them and make your own decision. Everybody here has different taste and expectations. I really like the Kickers I have but other people think they are over priced. This may be true but I was impressed with the way they sounded. Its really up to you.

Another thing to consider is that not all 6.5" component sets are actually 6.5". Some brands use 6" instead, like diamond audio.

Just something to consider.

I have the BA Rally 6.5 components.  They are not top of the line, but they sound absolutely amazing.  I thing that I am hooked on BA from now on as far as cabin speakers are concerned.  I have an MBQ sub, and that sounds really nice too.  Ahhh, its just so nice to listen to good quality misic with good quality stuff.

BA, PG, MBQ, Eclipse will all sound good.
