The higher the voltage the more clarity from amps?? I'm not sure exactly. I'm replacing my Pioneer P7300 with a Pioneer P7600MP. But the newer decks have 2.2 volt preamps as compared to the older deck which has 4v preamps?

Is it noticeable a switch from 4v to 2.2v?

well you will have to re-adjust your gains. But as long as your amp has adjustment that low most amps are down to .8volts then you will be fine, yes it typically is alot easier on the amp is you dont have to adjust the amp so much..it the case of a sub anm I dont think you will notice a diffrence, for a internal amp as long as it is a quality amp you will be fine

thanks for the reply - going to go for the pioneer 7600mp. I have an MTX 4244 50x4 amp which is still pretty decent for what I need.
