Subject: question about my new memhis subs.

I bought two memhis audio mc124 12" subs a couple days ago. I had a couple hundred watts to each of them, and they had thier own small sealed boxes for the break in period. Now I have them in thier duel 12" box with four hundred watts to each of them and I have to say they pound pretty good. They will beat my two 12" 800w audiobahns, and the memphis subs are only 400w max. The guy at car toys told me that memphis subs sound really good but they are built pretty cheap. Will they last me awile or should I trade them in? They seem to be built pretty good to me, but they are only single voice coil and they lead wires aren't even built into the spider. I like them but I pound them pretty hard and want to know if will stand up to everyday abuse or fall apart on me? Does anybody have any input on these subs?

From my experience memphis makes good quality products.  The mc class subs are really good, but if you really want to pound why not the M3 subs?  A buddy of  mine has 2 12" in his car and he pounds all day every day for 8 months now and no problems so far.

The subs should last as long as you set your gain on your amplifier so that your amp isn't sending those Memphis subs a clipped signal. And don't use that bass boost crap or anything either.

Does anybody know the power rating on the mc124 12" sub? the box says 400w max but they pound way to hard to be that small of a wattage.

Its continuous power rating is 200 watts.

Yeah they are 200rms. A buddy of mine has 2 of those subs in his towncar, running off a kenwood 500W amp. He has the gain at about 1/4 and the bass boost off and they sound amazing. Amazing subs considering they only only cost $90 or so a piece. They are quite durable as well.

Well i never would have got that series, i like the LSW's which are beasts. But really try getting some US Amp or Cadence power into those suckers (Even Zapco) and those babies will shine. Wattage means crap really when you use these amps, because they are so underated 25 W will sound like 75 W and 150 W will sound like 300 W ... So just get one of these babies and the hi end power will really make a difference and make your system CRANK.
