system tuning (frequency genertator)

Can anyone give any insight as to how I might use "frequency generator" program to create a test disk of sorts for tweaking my system. I played with it for a bit, can manipulate sounds to some degree but lack the detailed knowledge needed to create anything of value for system calibration. I have no problem exporting and converting wave files, I just don't know what to export!

I'm really interested in SQ, think I need a wide array of sounds to test with.

search results.  I've used that program but can't get into it anymore because my free period expired.  There are details in the posts linked.  A CD will hold a lot of tones, so make as many as you want.  Use the sine waves to make .wav files.  Set the reference to 0 db.  Use the JL tutorial (found in the linked posts) as a guide.  With certain freqs and Ohm's Law, you can set gain.  You can also set crossover freqs with pretty good precision by using several freqs in the crossover range to determine relative volume.

OR, is it that I must set Hz, and adjust amplitude until 0db is reached?

I didn't see it either when I made my test CD, but since then others have spoken of it.  I didn't even think of it.  Guess I assumed the waves were at 0 db.  But I can't look at it now since I'm a tightwad and don't want to shell out the money for the program.... If it's minus-something db by default, then it looks like my test CD is most likely innacurate for setting gain.  Okay for crossovers, though, I think....

All right, you've pointed me in the right direction and I appreciate it.

And I will never again post a Q without doing a search on it first.

Rather ironic considering I came across the program in a thread I found searching for eq setup.
