My friend recently purchased a  Jensen 2 channel Amplifier with 300 wattsmax power, so i installed it for him with a Sony Xplode subwoofer that is 1000 max watts(bridged, the pos from the right, the neg from the left channel), when i installed everything i tried it out and it worked fine, the woofer sounded good but obiously not at its higest potential , but then suddenly the woofer stoped working after only less than 10 mins of being on, the amplifiers is still on because the jensen letters turn on,but the green power led is off and the red protect light is off too, it only turnson for about a sec  when i turn the head unit but then turns off, i read the manual and it says that the problem may be a bad crossover, not enough power to the amp, some impendance problem or a bad ground.  I checked the wires and everything is fine so i am stuck with this problem now, any Idea what could it be

"Some impedence problem" sounds likely.  We might be able to help with more information.  What's the impedence of the woofer voice coil(s)?  What's the output rating on the amp when it's bridged?  What are the model numbers of both amp and woofer?  Are the fuses blown on the amp?

Yes, it sounds like you're overloading it. Jensen amps can only do 4 ohms in bridged mode. You can go for lower resistance if you turn down the gain.

Really, though, my recommendation is to sell that stuff and get something better. See if you can find a JBL BP150.1 or BP300.1 and, well, you can try it with the Sony subwoofer, but Sony sucks so I'd recommend getting a different sub as well... Another pretty good brand of amp (IMO) and a great value is Planet Audio. I see a 120W RMS amp on Ebay for $55 buy it now... Not bad. (I'm assuming your friend doesn't need a TON of bass because he got a Jensen 300W, but if he does want pretty good volume, then I'd recommend more than the 120W and definitely a better sub)

If he really doesn't want to get better stuff, then turn down the gain 'til it stops going into protect.
