Hello all,

Just need alittle info. I am going to buy a JBL 1200.1 amp to hook to my alpine r types. I have the 12 inch DVC 4+4 Ohm models. I am still trying to understand the setup for this amplifier. I want to run both subs at 2ohm loads or 1ohm since the amp can handle it. I see that there are 2 speaker out jacks on the amp and 2 sets of line in RCA connections. I need to know how I hook up the RCA jacks when using a sub out on my receiver and how to get 600W to each of my speakers.

All advice is welcome

Run your RCA's to the input side and run your subs in parallel  to the left+ and right -.

There is no way to wire two 4 Ohm loads to get 1 Ohm, however that doesn't matter b/c the amp puts out the same power between 1 and 2 Ohms anyhow...

There are two ways to use the RCA inputs on the amp.  One is to wire EITHER  L/R pair (this is usually done if your HU has a separate sub pre-out pair or only one set of pre-outs altogether).  The other way is to wire BOTH L/R pairs (this is usually done if you have only Front and Rear but no sub pre-out on your HU.  What this does is prevent the fader control from affecting the sub output as it automatically balances the Front and Rear pairs if you input the RCAs that way).

As for the speaker connections, you can either wire the two speakers in parallel and connect them to one set of + and - on the amp OR you can wire them separately and wire each subs + and - to each set of + and - on the amp.  There are TWO speaker outputs on the amp (2 pairs of + and -).  These are INTERNALLY PARALLELED, so connecting one woofer to one output and the other to the other output will automatically give you a 2 Ohm load (speakers are wired in parallel).

if you run 2 dual 4 ohm's (4+4)  in parallel you will have a 1 ohm mono load.

Oops! Sorry, nousername is right, I didn't realise they were DVCs with dual 4-Ohm coils on each...

if you have 2 dual, 4 ohm's (4/2)  in parallel you will have a 2ohm mono load

if you have2 dual, 2 ohm's (2/2)  in parallel you will have a 1 ohm mono load
