alright, i have a 95 thunderbird that im tryin to make kinda nice before i leave for the army. i got almost all my stuff for my system just need a few suggestions. so heres the list of equipment

Blaupunkt Sanfransico CD72
Blaupunkt 6X8s in the doors
Kicker 6 1/2 componet set in the rear
4 15" kicker comp CRVs.
directed 500X4 for componets
power acoustik 3000X1

im in the process of getting a MA Audio amp for the subs.
i was wondering what size amp wire i should be useing. im currently useing 4gauge, and considered moving up to 0. i thought about putting a set of 6X9s in the back with set of 6 1/2s in the kick panel, but i dont want it to get too sloppy. any suggestions?

0 gauge back to a distribution block and 4 gauge out to the amps. And use 4 guage ground for each amp.

By the way which MA Audio amp you going to?

shouldnt all the amps use the same ground though?  im useing the MA Audio HK401SX  it breaks down to .5 ohms so i think that'll be fine. claims it can push 1800 RMS at .5.  yea?

You could run a 0 guage ground to a distribution and 4 guage to each amp. That way the amps are grounded the same.

Definitely put 6.5s in the kick panels. It will be a vast improvement over 6x8s in the doors.

Spend as much as you can on those main front components. I wouldn't replace your speakers in the rear - it would be a waste of money in my opinion.

Also just to let you know. MA Audio rates those amps at 14.4volts

thanks for all the help. ive heard people/companys sayins 14.4 volts and everything. obviously a car is 12, so how do you acheieve 14.4? im a bit confused

14.4 is the nominal charging voltage for a lead acid battery, and is the nominal output voltage for an alternator with the engine running. This equates to a cheap power supply in the amplifier in my opinion, because it is not a regulated power supply - it needs higher input voltage to get proper power out. (A regulated power supply will always provide the same power, regardless of the input voltage...) That or the manufacturer is embarrassed to tell you what the amp makes at a real world voltage, and they want to inflate the abilities of the amp... bad mojo, man! If your alternator cannot maintain 14.4 volts, then you ARE NOT going to get all of the power you thought you paid for.

alright. still a bit confused here. but i currently have the yellow top optima and a 1 farad cap. i considered upgradeing my altinatior. from the factory its 135 amp, but napa has a 225 amp. that sucker costs some coin, but is it worth it?

and is that what your gettin at? with the 14.4 or am i way off the beatin trail?

No, but yes, and I don't mean to confuse you with that statement.

Yes, buy the alternator. An upgraded alternator WILL ALWYAS pay you back in system stability, as well as longevity.

No, you are not way off the beaten trail. A stiffer output voltage from the alternator will provide closer to the 14.4 on a more consistent basis than an alternator that is loaded close to it's maximum capabilities already.

providing i get the new altinator, with the yellow top battery, and a 1 farad cap. should that be enough? i considered getting a bigger cap. i really dont have room for another batterie. i have my 4 15s in my trunk now, and im finding it very difficult to find room for the amps, so i was thinking a bigger cap after the altinator. any suggestions?

ALWAYS start with the alternator, then add batteries, THEN add cap...
