I have a alpine cd changer in the trunk with an amp installed also. It is one that needs the radio set to a certain frequency to get sound from it. My problem is that the sound quality is poorer that with the original/factory cd in the dash. Is it because of the radio tuning and i have to live with it or could it be something else.

Your connections to the FM antenna may be dirty or corroded with debris. How old is the system and what year, make and model car is this ?

Sometimes the RF is not good.. but most of the times the quality does get more poor when you add this type of changer. I would make sure you ground wire is good, connections are clean, and the RF is not placed in a bad spot where there can be interference. You can also try changing the channels.

My Personal Installer Note: Connectors are easy, neat, and professional. But do you know how to crimp properly?
thanks guys, I cleaned up the connections and moved it farther away from the speaker.....that might have been interfering with the reception. It is a '93 Mazda MX6, and the system is about 5 yrs. old. How do I change the channel on it?

some you can not! Others might be on the changer itself or possibly on a box near the ant. connections.
