I have a 2001 Eclipse, which is basically a 2 seater hatchback. Should I have the subs facing towards me, or to the rear in the trunk? if i fold down the seats the subs are right there.

Face them to the rear of the car. You can play around with them facing forward or to the rear. But facing to the rear will probably be more audible.

I found that facing them to the rear is better. My car is a hatchback also. I have tried facing them forward, to the back and up.

Try each way out and see which is best. In my car the bass is MUCH better with the sub facing towards the back of the trunk. But Im not sure if it would be the same in a hatchback. I have heard quite a few very loud systems with the subs facing forward with the backseat down.
