help please!  can somebody tell a girl a simple way to connect the power antenna wires to the car? the instructions are beyond me! the only way its working so far,(dont laugh yet) ...is the 2 power wires (1 red, 1 black) connected 2 the antenna, running out the trunk, along the car and back in the window where it connects to the dash fuse box because the antenna.. initially working after install, naturally stopped. looks like one of the wires died there.please tell me theres a way to get out of this mess alive?? you otta be laughing by now...sweatting waiting 4 help! bethnchuck@aol.com

lol posted_image....just wait till I catch my breath....... ( JK ) What you need to do is find the short on the antenna wire. Normally there are three wires for the OEM antenna.

  • 1. One for the GROUND
  • 2. One for constant power
  • 3. One for the wire coming from the radio

If you replaced a radio recently you may not have hooked up the power antenna lead. Use a DMM or light tester to check the three wires above and connect to the approprite wires according to the wirng diagram ofor the power antenna that you purchased.

the power antenna we just installed was working at 1st, just before the 'constant' wire gave out. theres no life in that wire we tested at the trunk were it should connect.  Q: can we connect it to the radio power switch somehow so that it goes up when the radio is on & down when off? assistance here is  

greatly appreciated, still swetting..

Yes, you can run a new constant wire from the back of the radio to the antenna. You will need three connection in the back ( GROUND, CONSTANT and REMOTE ). Are you still using the OEM deck ?
