I just bought a ktc-sr901 tuner. it's the 2 wire antenna design and i have a brand new antenna to go with it. When i connect the antenna properly i get an antenna error. If i take the plastic covers off the plugs and plug them into the tuner directly (without ALC Module) i get signal (and service :).

My question is, do i need this alc module? will it harm my tuner or antenna if i don't use it? i'm fine with switching the plastic plugs around and using just the antenna as long as it works.

also, is there anyway to find out how long this tuner will have service for? i haven't subscribed this tuner yet and it works.

thanks!

You wont damage the unit if the system works without it then dont use it. As for the service you can get some channels on all the systems thay are "freeview" and will never go away. However if you get all channels then the tuner is not new and someone just has not ended the service if so it will stop when the subscription ends or the preveious owner ends the service.
