ok i posted here a few weeks ago about my kicker l7s that i bought but were dvc 4ohm and wouldnt work with my mtx 1501d(2 ohm stable). i got these for 400 and went to return them for the dvc 2ohm ones and they didnt have them and are discontinuing kicker. So i am looking at these possibilities or any that you guys might have:

1 13" JL13w7: $649- Its a 3 ohm sub so will it work with my amp?

1 12" JL12w7: $559- DVC 4 ohm

1 12" MTX-T9512-44: $599.97- DVC 4 ohm

1 12" Alpine Type X: $450- DVC 4 ohm

1 12" Rockford Fosgate Power Stage 2: $699- DVC 4 ohm

2 10" Rockford Fosgate Power Stage 1: $700(a pair)- DVC 2 ohm

2 10" MTX-T8510: $700(a pair)-DVC 2 ohm

2 12" Kicker L7: $600(a pair)- DVC 2 ohm

These are the subs i have currently narrowed it down to.....i am looking for something that is clean but can really pound....I do not plan on competing or anything I just want it to be loud...I used to have 2 polk momos hooked up to it and was satisfied until i blew one of them.....I would like it to be louder than that. i have heard the L7s and both Mtxs listed and they all pounded hard.....i have had no experience with jl but have heard great things so any input is helpful and appreciated.....and if there is anything elso you would recomend please tell me....thanks

To my knowledge JL don't make a 12w7 DVC, they're all 3ohm SVC. The 13w7 is dual 1.5.

What other impedances can your amp run at?

I have not heard any of the other brands first hand so I shouldn't advise.

If you're looking for clean sounds..the kickers would not be the way to go...although they will get loud

Also the JL's are very good subs but everything they sell is very high priced..you pay extra money just for the name IMO..I would check into the Adire Brahma's or RE XXX's...they both get extremely loud with great sq. If you're willing to sacrafice a little SQ I believe the RE SX's will get just as loud as the XXX's.

Take a look at MMATS subs. They are as great blend of SPL and SQ. I dont know if you will have much luck finding them for sale online, as they only sell them through authorized dealers, so look for a shop in your area that sells them. Here is their ctalog in pdf format.

thanks guys......i thought about the XXXs but i heard that re was backorderd out the a**.  Also how much do the XXXs run a piece and what ohm load are they.....And i know that no shops around my area cary MMATS.....the subs i listed above were pretty much the best i can get from a local store w/  the exception of the rockford but i can order that of crutchfield if i wanted to......Im always paranoid about ordering stuff off line plus with most of the subs i listed i can get a warranty where if i blow them or anything i can get a new one.....Also do you think if i went with one of the single sub setups i listed above it would be as loud or louder than the dual sub setups or my old polk setup.....the reason i ask is because if it was i could always use the trunk space.....Anyone else have anything.......Thanks

with which sub though.....im kind of leaning toward the mtx 9500 12 or the alpine type x......ive heard two 10 inch mtx 9500s and they pounded but ive never heard the type x.....what do you think

The general opinion I have gotten from most people, and myself for sure, is that the type X was a dissapointment. I have always been really happy with MTX and the 9500's are a really amazing sub.

I heard the Type X sub when the local shop first got them. I was also there to see the first one fail less than half an hour after they started playing it. I just dont think they sound all that good and they definatly werent that reliable. Now I have sense been told by Alpineguy on here that the first run did have bad voice coils and they have since corrected that but I still didnt think they sounded that good. As far as the 9500 goes, thats a ton of power to throw at one of them, esspecially in a ported box so make sure its set right but if you do the install right it is gonna pound harder than the ladies on the Vegas Strip (cheap dig)

RE

IMO the MTX 9500's are a good sub but you cant get more for you're money..A single MTX 9500 would run u up in price at a local shop and not  perform as well as the SX series from RE...i would imagine the 9500's are pretty expensive unless you buy them on ebay and that's w/ no warranty. If i were you id go with an SX15..should run you approx. $290 shipped..it can handle loads of power but definitely doesnt need it..put it in the right ported box and it will pound like no tommorow

The XXX's come standard dual 2 ohm....you can get them modified to quad 2 and dual 1..that will run you an extra $25 if i'm not mistaken..maybe 50..you'd have to talk to an RE rep..If you're really interested in getting a modified one i'll ask an RE rep for you..If it were me I would get the standard dual 2 ohm sub.

I wouldn't recommend the W7. Despite it being one of the elite woofers, it is extremely overpriced and there is nothing (in my opinion) that you can get out of it that an Adire Brahma can't do for half the price. I do not recommend the TYPE X's, as they are very power hungry and just do not produce sq like they should. Alpine has been on the decrease lately, sorry to say. MTX makes a nice woofer, and i guess i recommend them. They have there pros and cons. Pros - not very power hungry, good SPL scores. Cons - take up lots and lots of room and don't really have that great of sound quality. RE XXX's are great woofers, i highly recommend them. They have their price tag too, but it is worth every penny. Check out the Adire Brahma at www.adireaudio.com under Car Audio, it is a fantastic woofer. I love mine and they crank. My box is ported ~ 32Hz and it blasts man and maintains fantastic SQ even at full output.

if you heard the 9500 and you liked it, get it, or... get a better sub from MTX if they have one, i dont know there line up thats why i say that. cant go wrong with something that already pleased you.

well i heard the 2 10 inch mtx 9500s and i liked them.......but if i get the 9500s it would be  1 12".....but i believe the 9500 series is the top line from mtx unless they make a pure spl sub......

MTX does make a pure SPL sub...i forget the model..but its total garbage..The only big downfall of the 9500's IMO is that they are overpriced for what you're getting..i think i saw them for like $300-350 on ebay..u can get a single RE 15SX for like $290 shipped..maybe a little more depending on where u live..that was how much it was to ship to me. IMO the SX is a better sub for both sq and spl.

thanks guys.....what kind of warrantys do the brahma and REs come with??Also i found a shop that would give me a 12 inch MTX 9500 and build me a ported box for it for 650......and they do very good work on their boxes so i might go with that when i get paid next.....but keep the votes coming

The MTX pure spl sub is called the RFL and its anything but garbage, as long as people relize its ONLY built for spl competition. For a time they held both the single sub and 2 sub records in canada with vehicles that use RFL's, but I dont know if those records still stand. Personally I think they are a nice sub and being that you are buying locally 650 with a custom box isnt a bad deal at all.
