I am looking to replace the factory head unit in my wife truck. It has the JBL sound system and worked great. The unit has been repaired twice. Salesmen have told me that I will need to replace the entire system. What do I need to DO.  All suggestioons will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

You need to either purchase the proper interface adaptor to go from the aftermarket cd player to the factory Junk But Loud system. These interface adaptors are made by numerous companies like Scosche for example. The second option is to replace the JBL system and carefully place it in the trashbin. Secure the lid and ensure that none of the parts make a break for it. (watch for escaping Bose equipment at the same time). Remember that the JBL speaker system as much as the name suggests high end...... is now as old as the vehicle is, are the tires as old as the vehicle as well or have they been changed and upgraded? Chances are that they will do OK for you but there has been a ton of changes in the industy in the last 11 years, changes that for me would warrant an upgrade in speakers. Take it a step at a time. Find out the price of the interface adaptors and the labour to install them and compare that to the labour to purchase 1 new set of 5x7" in the front door and the labour to install them. The rear speakers can always be done at a later date.

Top Secret, I can tell you but then my wife will kill me.
