Ok well i don't know to much about box building, only built sealed boxes. But i had an idea for a spl type setup, so a made a fast 3d model of it.
My idea is this, using 1 subwoofer to drive many passive radiators. No clue if this would work or not. But i'm sure somebody here would know.

with the same amount of subs as the radiators in seperate boxes, sure. a passive radiator is only a substitute for a port. you would have to find a passive radiator where 8 of them could be tuned to the one sub. alltogether, they would still have to equal the extension and surface area of a single radiator that would work for the sub so there would be no spl change. basically, a passive radiator is not an unpowered woofer, but a sealed port. try it out though. i would love to know how it actually ends up sounding

Yes it could work, but as Bullman said it will be difficult to achieve good results and a much simpler single PR system would produce the same output.  Perhaps an 18" woofer matched to a series of 8" PRs if you really want to try it... Start HERE to begin your design.
