radio 12V constant hot Fuse?

OK, I shorted out the 12V constant hot on my radio harness. There were no fused blown under the dash, but I did find two blown under the hood. I replaced them and still have no power to that wire. Any ideas? I don't have an owners manual so I don't know which fuse is what. By the way it's a 98 Expedition

how did you check your fuses? visual or with a dmm? if visual you should check again because they can blow without looking blown ------------- Quad L Handyman services

well if there is no power at the radio harness that pretty much only leaves a blown fuse doesnt it? if a wire had burned "open" you'd sure know it.....

Well, that's what I would think, but they all checked good. Just wasn't sure if maybe I burnt up one of the relays in the fuse box or the power distribution box.

i have had a few vehicles come in like this, You can go stright to your battery, or ign wires. but risk the chance of induced noise, make sure you properly fuse

Check fusible links....they come off the hot side of the batt and go towards the firewall of the car.. most will be marked "fusible link" but some wont...The wire inside acts as a one time fuse...It can be a pain in the a55 but good luck finding it. Also check all the fuses not just ones marked radio....Hope this helps.... ------------- 97 Sebring Jx convertible

Thanks for all of the replies I'll see if I can't find that fusible link or ask the dealer. I spliced into another hot wire, but I'd just like to fix it right. Don't want to have a ghetto install!

My friend had this happened to him a couple of years ago. The fuse is on the back of the engine in between the engine and firewall is just a wire with a fuse holder floating there. I can't tell you exactly which one it is because he was the one who found it, but I know it's located there. Btw his expedition was also a 98.

Thanks bdl666 I found it and it is working now. It was in a harness up near the firewall on the drivers side in case anyone else ever has this problem.
