Hey there,
I'm looking to buy 2 Rockford Fosgate P212s4 subs and a Sony XM-2200 GTX amp. Is that amp enough power to run the subs to their potential and decent sound? Have any of you ever had any experience with either of the two? And if not what other 2 channel amp (s) you guys recomend?

a friend ran a sony amp in a tempo and the install wasnt great. which cant say alot for the sony amp itself. but it really wasnt loud at all, it was a tollerable sound if anything when he had it 'cranked'... now that line of sony amp seems a little higher up on their list of amps, than my friend had, so you may have better luck, but i'd definitely look around for amps of the same price before buying a sony.

why would you go with the p2 when for just a little more you can get the p3 with twice the power and they sound 3 times better. I have the p3 with a kenwood excelon 811d you can get the 811d at locustaudio.com for around 235.00 + s/h. This amp rocks. I would by the p3 they are dual voice coil. get the dual 4 ohm and wire to 1 ohm you will get a little over 1000 watts to these subs and that will rock harder than anyone will think. I promise you will not be disapointed.

Forget the amp..I don't care how far up the line it is in Sony products..It's still sony..known to fail..known to disapoint..There are so many products out there that are better in the same price range..shop around on ebay.

Yes I agree. I ditched the sony amp and bought a Rockford Fosgate P5002 Amp to pwoer the P2 subs.I think that will be a better choice.

That looks like a good match. If you are going for sq go with a sealed box. As for the cap you probably don't need one. Try the setup without it first than if you think you need one you can always get it later.

Well you shouldn't need a cap for 500W. And for the box well it all depends on what you like, most people say sealed for sound quality and ported for spl. Really you should see if you can listen to the subs in a ported and sealed box, and see which sounds better to you. Also if your building the box yourself a sealed box is easyier to build.

Cool thanks for the help. I had one more question. I was looking between two RF p2 subwoofer models. One p212S4 and P212S8 the difference is that the first is 4ohms and the second is 8 ohms, which shuld i go with? Which one is better?

They are both of the same quality. It depends on how you want to wire your subs. I would reccomend going with the 8ohm subs & running them parallel to the amp bridged mono to get the most out of your amp. If you get the 4ohm you can only run them stereo. -------------
