Hey, i'm looking for a person in the Tampa Bay area that builds and installs alternators. I'm looking at getting one that can push 200 + amps as i am drawing a lot of current with the new system i'm building. If anyone can recommend anyone that would be great! Be sure to PM me with their phone number! - Tony

Can't help specifically with the Florida area, but here's where I'd go for the hardware... Generally speaking, I wouldn't rewire my OEM alternator. Why? What happens if your HO alternator fails somewhere down the line? Yer STUCK! Keep the OEM incase you have to have something to fall back on.

Not in FL, but www.wranglernw.com is the most complete source. I have had a few different models on my vehicles and customers and have had 0 failures.

There should be a phone number on www.4alterstart.com website that you can call and talk directly to them. That is what I had to do. I couldn't find anything on their site either.

after you hit www.wranglernw.com go to Products and you will see the options. You might need to call them to get an exact model and price.

Mine is rated 165A, and the birth certificate that came with it said the test temperature was 105 degrees C. This is for my '01 Civic, and yes the regulator is built in.

I ran into a problem. No one really makes a high output alt with a lifetime warranty. All are 2 years or less. Can anyone find me one that does 200 Amps Hot rated with an adjustable regulator with a lifetime warranty for less than $500 ? -Tony

Have you tried 4alterstart yet? 1-800-607-0016. Most of their alternators are lifetime warranty.

Already tried that. They won't lifetime any alternator over 130 amps, and i need 200 Amps.

You can also try www.mechman.com. I don't know what the prices are. I looked a few years ago and they were higher that 4alterstart, so I went with the best price. They might be better prices now.

Hey switch hitter, i found that guy. He lives by me old house and i could have my friend ship it down. Do you recommend his alternators? Does he run good bizness? Did you purchase a high output alternator? Any need of service or did you use your warranty? Did he give a warranty on the alt? Sorry about the million questions but these are things i need to know before I invest in this.
 - Tony.... P.S. this is much appreciated !!!

Guy, try Mean Green ( www.mean-green.com ).  I have one of their 200amp alternators in my Explorer.  I'm not sure of all the details,  but what I do know is that it has made the differences I needed.  ( I can run my 1800 watt rms amp for the subs,  300 watt rms amp for the speakers at high volume,  the headlights,  defroster,  windsheild wipers front and rear,  and rear defroster, while pushing all window switches,  and it will only show a small small dip in voltage loss.  The stock would have shut down)

It works well,  was a direct bolt on (the alternator is noticealby larger than stock but still fits in without any modifications, granted you have to coax the heater returns a bit, but no big deal)   Also plan on upgrading the positive and negative cables (no big deal though,  you can use the stock ones in conjunction with new ones with some new hardware)   and plan on replacing the fan belt to a slightly smaller size (about 1/2 to 1 inch).

if i were you, i would not try to find some one to build me such a big alternator, i would just run dual alternators, one for your system and one for your ride..........but that's up to you, i would just find it cheeper and in my eyes better.

if anything, running duals would be more expensive.  You'd need brackets, wires, a new belt.   Not to mention, you now need to find more space under the hood.  Not an easy task with a truck with wires and tubes running everywhere.
