Can I run a radio accessory wire off of 18 volts?  or will this dammage the radio itself?

prolly will damage the radio, , , it should say on the radio what its voltage requirements are, , most are like 11 - 16

I would advise against it, like Alpine Guy. You can add a limiting diode (5-6V Zener), or regulate the 18V down to 12V with a voltage regulator IC.
