What is the actual RMS per channel of this amplifier? The website says 220watts but I got 166watts per channel using this formula I found on the website. 2000watts/3=666 watts then 666watts/4 channels=166watts.https://www.thezeb.com/p-Boss-Audio-RIP-896-Multi-Channel-Amplifier-109431.htm. Any help would be appreciated.
Neither the rating or the formula would be right, with this boss amp. This is the day of mass-produced electronics, many of which are built with cheap parts. And is also the time of hyper-advertising. When you are a manufacturer with no reputation to save, you don't really give a flying crap whether you rate your product close to accurately or not. With a rating of 220 watts RMS X 4, you can probably expect to get about 50 to 60 watts per channel from it. If you haven't purchased it yet, wait until you can find a deal on a brand worth putting money into. Just look through these forum pages for awhile and you will come up with many brands worth your time and investment.
Actually, 50 watts a channel wouldn't be bad. But would be a lot better from a better brand.
Bottom line...it's not worth anybody's time to try to figure power output from a boss amp. The only way to do it is to actually measure the results after it's installed properly. And you won't find anyone willing to do that either, I'm sure, unless you pay them a lot of $$.
Boss/Pyle/Pyramid.......sweep them out the door and go on. You can only go up.
Thank you for your time and input.

I agree completely..most of those brands are carried at your local flea market and they but crazy numbers on amps for low prices to con people into buying them. I mean come on 1600 watt amp for 129 dollars?

Rookie of the year that is...
Don't let the smoke out of your equiptment..it doesn't go back in.
on a good name brand amplifier expect to pay about a dollar a watt or more but the end result is nice clean power with minimal distortion.
