I'm looking at the diagram for my 4 ohm kicker l7 and it looks like i'm supposed to hook up the positive of coil one and the negative of coil two to the amp, and the negative of coil one and posative of coil two to each other.  Is that correct or do i just go from +coil  1 to -coil2.  Its just one twelve going to a mono amp.  Then when i get my secound twelve that I plan to run in series can I keep it hooked up the same way or do i need to change it.

If it is a DVC 4 ohm sub, and your amp is 2 ohms stable (which I'm assuming it is since it's a mono amp), you can hook up the positive of coil 1 to the positive of coil 2, and the negative of coil 1 to the negative of coil 2. This is called a parallel connection. Then connect the positive and negative of coil 1 (or of coil 2) to the amplifier.

This is also assuming that your sub can handle the amount of RMS watts that your amplifier puts out at 2 ohms.

eiter way you have to hook up both coils to either each other or both to the amp

May I ask why in series? You'll get more power if you wire them in parallel like aggie altima said. Then when you get the 2nd woofer, you can wire them down to 1 ohm (if your amp can handle 1 ohm).

You will get the most power if you connect it like aggie altima stated in the post above.
