This is kind of a stupid question. I just got a cheap sub off ebay, it is a c4 california series. It says it is a 2 layer duel voice coil. I took it out of the box and there is only speaker hook terminal. All the other dvc subs I have had had 2. My question is it a dvc and it is just pre wired inside, or is it some messed up wording to mislead the consumer. I know the sub is crap, but I am broke and need something. Thanks for any help you can give.

I have never seen a dvc prewired. Get a multimeter and check the ohms load.

A "2-layer" voice coil is not the same as a dual voice coil. If it has only one set of terminals it is a single voice coil speaker. ------------- Support the12volt.com

So what exactly is a "2 layer" voice coil?? Is it just another marketing gimmick or what?

"2-layer" voice coil means the wires are wound in two layers. It is a construction technique and supposedly produces a voice coil that can handle more heat but it is really meaningless to the end user. So norcal, what brand and model is that subwoofer? ------------- Support the12volt.com

That's a definate flea-market special. Best if used as a paperweight. If it only has one set of terminals it is a SVC woofer. Write to the ebay seller and ask for your money back since it is not a dual voice coil as advertised. Make them pay for the return shipping. If they refuse, report them to eBay as a fradulent seller and if you paid using PayPal file for your money back with them due to fraud. Good luck. ------------- Support the12volt.com

That was what I thought. The box even says the same thing, I didn't want to send a message if I was wrong. It is a messed up way of advertising. Thanks for the info guys
