Guys, I just bought a Eclispe DA7232 amp and I plan on running my 2 Eclispe SW8122DVC subs. My question is I can run each sub to each channel of that amp with a 2ohm load right (parallel)? Eclipse tells me I need to set the amp to L+R since my sub preout on my deck is L+R does this sound right? I have always ran my amps with the "mono" setting when running subs..

yeah, or use a ysplitter. you might want to bridge the amp, wire each sub to 2ohms and then wire the subs in a series for 4ohms. it would be a bit more nice to the amp

The amp is a 2 channel Subwoofer amp and from what I understand is each channel can handle a 2ohm load per channel. I'm thinking for ease of installation I can just run one sub per channel with a 2ohm load per channel. I have DVC 4ohm subs which wired in parallel is a 2ohm load to each channel I believe. The L+R setting is something I have never heard of...

i take back on the wiring suggestion, didnt know the amp was a class d. damn, i was putting 400rms into one of those subs, that amp might be a bit overkill. should be fine, if your sub out is stereo great, if not, use a y-splitter and you should be all set.

From what I understand the SW8122DVC subs are underrated and this amp should really wake them up.. Stereo? Eclipse suggested L+R. The amp has three settings mono(L), Stereo, or L+R. I have always just used mono setting on my other amp and I shouldn't use stereo since its subs I'm driving and not full range right?

most bass is recorded in mono but i have heard some electronica where the bass is recorded in stereo. in a car it doesnt matter as it will sound like it is coming from just the rear, but it also doesnt matter if you have the subs in stereo. how are the preouts on your deck setup? that should be the basis for your decision

My deck has sub preouts L+R I assume I haven't owned a deck with only one sub out. Every deck I have owned has had the L+R sub outs but I have still ran the amp at mono and not stereo or L+R.. I'm just wanting to make sure I have this amp setup right.

I think why they told me to run the amp with the L+R setting is that is mono for both the left and right channels.. Most decks now days have a L+R (mono) subwoofer preouts so this is why the amp has this setting for running subs.. The amp is a 2 channel Class D subwoofer amp.. What do you think?

A DA7232 + SW8122, almost as good as a hot short chick with 34c's. And that's what I think.

Do you have any experience with the DA7232? I'm assuming by your comment its a good setup?

This is an awesome, totally awesome amplifier. Ensure that you have a very good ground. This is a killer large amplifier with 200 amps of fusing in it. Make sure that the entire power and ground system is up to par to ensure that amplifier can do it's job properly. I have had one come back for warranty so far. The customer shorted his remote on wire and burned a trace right off of the board. End result, new board if and when Eclipse sends one to the repair depot. 34C's on a short chick = damn good. ------------- Top Secret, I can tell you but then my wife will kill me.

Sounds like you know your stuff..Have you read my earlier posts do I sound right in setting this amp up? I will run two DVC 8122 subs in parallel one sub to each channel which would be a 2ohm load to each channel.. Do I set the amp to L+R instead of mono? Any advice would be great I have never played with a 2 channel sub amp before.. My current setup is a USAcoustics USX1000D which is 1250watts RMS @ 12 volts with a 1ohm load. I have the amp running a 1ohm load...

The 8122 is a perfect sub for that amp - actually ANY of the Ti woofers are good for it too... I am running a single 9122 with ALL of the amp dedicated to it... It is a stereo amp, it is dual mono, and cannot be bridged. Personally, I would take Eclipse's recommendation, and use (and I DO use) the L+R switch setting - you will maintain more of all of the bass information in your recording... In the car, with those wavelengths, you will have mono ANYWAY, even though I have not come across ANY stereo recording in about the last ten years where the bass is recorded in mono. I can always hear stereo information in my home stereo, but never in the car - the cabin is too small, and the drivers are too close together, to maintain true stereo separation.
Rob is right, tho - make sure you are VERY meticulous about your power and ground - that thing is a CURRENT MONSTER!
Did someone say 34C?, short chick? sweeeeet... Add a flat head, and you'll have something to market there! ------------- It all reminds me of something that Molière once said to Guy de Maupassant at a café in Vienna: "That's nice. You should write it down."

Cool!!!!!! My main power is 1/0 gauge and have the battery and chassis grounded with 1/0 gauge. I used just 4 gauge for power and ground to the amp for thats the biggest it can fit... I still have to set my gain properly which I will do tomorrow with a mulitmeter and test disc.

By the way what did you set you gain to has far has using a multimeter and test tone? If the amp is 1000watts x2 into 2ohm load per channel which I have with my sub setup I guess my output voltage at speaker leads should be somewhere around 46 volts AC.

The formula I have is 1000x2 then squared but not sure if this is right...Never tried to figure out a 2 channel amp sub amp before...
