I have a friend that is wanting to install an aftermarket radio, Pioneer DEH-P550MP, into his 88 Prelude and before we begin I was hoping to locate some details on how to remove the existing radio. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

I used to own an '88 Lude. If I remember correctly you have to remove the trim piece that surrounds the radio and climate control area. I think that there are two screws underneath the vents and the rest snaps in with clips. Make sure you double check that there aren't any more screws that need to be removed because I'm not 100% sure.

With the trim piece out of the way you'll see that there are 4 screws that bolt the radio into place. You'll also have to loosen a screw on the bottom of the radio at the very back of the unit. Honda uses a rear bracket to stabalize the radio and many people forget to loosen this bolt and wonder why their radios won't come out.

Hope this helps.
