kenwood excelon hu really? u'd put that up with with eclipse??? be careful, u might get a new one ripped for ya. :) I dunno though, i've never given kenwood the time of day. Just something about them, i dont like. I think its the styling. Im not all about the bling bling dolphins and race cars on my hu, but just the lay out on them, just doesnt do them for me. but i wanna check out some reviews on that excelon now. cool.

HEY- SINCE ITS A NEVER-ENDING TOPIC ANYHOW, IM GOING OFF TOPIC

WHO MAKES SOUNDSTREAM ANYMORE ANYWAY? I KNOW THAT ITS A NAMEPLATE THATS CHANGED CORPORATE HANDS SEVERAL TIMES AND WONDERING WHERE THEY ENDED UP.  HOPEFULLY WITH SOMEONE THAT WILL MAINTAIN THE REPUTATION OF THE AMP AND NOT JUST WHORE IT OUT LIKE LANZAR, ORION, AND SO MANY  OTHER "GREATS" OF YESTERYEAR.

AH... TO REMINISCE

OMG CAPS

These are the brands I'd consider when putting together a new system. There are other nice ones out there, probably better ones, but these comprise the ones I've actually had contact with and have been impressed with. They're in no particular order. Also, these brands spread a wide range of models, not all the models are great. They also span a wide range of prices. I've included the brands I consider to give the best value based on what I've heard and seen.

Heads: Eclipse, Nakamichi, Alpine, Clarion
Amps: Eclipse, Memphis, Zapco, Diamond, Xtant, Alpine, MTX
Subs: MTX, Adire, Image Dynamics, Eclipse, JL, Infinity
Components: Diamond, Memphis, Infinity, Mb Quart

Ill go with Nak Heads, Tru amps, and woofers is way to wide open being that a good SPL woofer is very different from a good SQ woofer. If I wanted SPL I would probally use a MTX driver but if I was gonna do SQ I would probally use a Boston or a Focal Utopia.

And the winners are: (and in no particular order)
Eclipse, Nakamichi (and if pressed into a corner, Alpine) for head units
Eclipse, Adire, JL for subs
Eclipse, Zapco (and with honorable mention, old school Orion and Alphasonik) amps
Morel, Vifa, Scanspeak, Seas, Tang-Band, Adire for mid-bass
and Infinity Ribbons for highs - nothing else is good enough AFAIAC posted_image

But I have to disagree about Blose being the best, the best overall is Audiobomb! NOT - BWAHAHAHA

Alright, I did a couple of polls. Only have 5 spots for choices so that is all I could do. Also the options are taken from the previous posts in this thread.

HU. Clarion (dual 24bit bur brownmodel), alpine status, old school nak and eclipse.

AMPS- zapco, (aarpa of america), a few memphis (that hc-50 still amazed me at 1/4 ohm 25wx2 POUNDING 3 DVC 10" and it doubled as a flat top stove), old school hifonics colosus, and of course all the sick hand made super $$$$ sinfoni, brax, etc. (Ill never own one becuse I love convertibles). Ill let you know how the monitor 1's I bought hold up in a few months after I finish my install.

Speakers. DYNAUDIO (wow, I fell in love with them) runner up was MB quart (losers MTX 8000 series seperates). I havent really fell in love with a sub yet. Ive ran memphis, MTX (new mtx is much better than the old stuff), Image dynamics, orion, and JL. (all have been decent).

WHAT ABOUT PROCESSORS?  Audio control, rockford symmetry, Imagedynamics

HU: McIntosh (i`m still waiting for the denon\marantz buy out to complete and some more crazy units to come out / Nak (until i was them for sale in the the UK equivalent of Radio Shack, dirty sell outs) / Denon / maybe even some of the Rockford.......... Personally i`m looking into a McIntosh MX406 right now

Amps: JL Audio, Zapco, Genesis (i think they a UK company, do alot of custom Amps)

Speakers \ Subs : i`m so JL bias its silly........ Polk, MB Quartz, Boston

EQ's and the like : I dont know where i would be without my PG BassCUBE...!!!

I have a low end pioneer head unit that sounds horrible and I wasnt to impressed with their older highend stuff. I see a lot of people like the new pioneer stuff, have they come a long way and they are good now?
