Does anyone know if any hu are made without am? I for one can't stand to listen to it. I know a few years back there was talk about doing away with am completely.I think if they got rid of it, it would free up room for other things. What is everybody's opinion about it? Good or bad it don't matter.

I hate AM too, but who wants to get into it with the FCC? They set the standard for how radio frequencies may be used, so it would take an act of Congress....

AM radio is more popular than ever and there is not, nor has there ever been, serious talk about "getting rid of it." If you don't want to listen to AM, then don't tune to it...

i'm surprised that took 4 posts to get to the point... if you dont like it, dont turn it on..... it's like people who bitch all the time " i hate what's on TV, it's all garbage"... then dont turn the box on... read a book.....

also, if youre not lucky enough to live in a major city centre, you'd get no radio at all if it wasnt for AM..... we have lots of customers here who live outside the FM range ( as you go over the Candian prairies you can go 4-5 hours from one city to the next ).... i guess they design radios for everyone
