Hi there I hope you guys can help! I have just had a RF amp and Sub installed into my car, The problem being when I start the car there is a low almost humming comming from the sub!! I have kept the Stock head unit and the amp is piggy backed from one of the backed speakers to give me an RCA outlet. Do any of you guys know why this is happening? O' it only does it when the car is started. Cheers Dan Short

It sounds like a ground problem. If I were you I would take it back to the place you had it installed & have them make it right.

Its a problem with the converter used to give you an RCA level signal off the speaker wires. Its not gaurenteed to be that but that is the most likely problem. i agree though, take it back to where you got it done and make them make it right.

Thanks guys I will.. The other little problem is the old dimming of the head lights! As you can guess im new to this game! I just dont want people to thing in flashing at them!!! I have a 2001 316 BMW, is it a cap,larger alternator,another battery. I didnt think 1 501db RF amp would suck so much juice! what do you suggest? Thanks Dan Short

hmm.....I wouldn't think that a 501BD would draw that much juce either, but , that also could be due to the size of the battery, not enough supply for the demand, lol, I have noticed alot of the newer cars are using a smaller battery, and with any aftermarket draws, can pull them down, so maybe the size of the battery is a factor here, might want to try a little bigger size before anything else, this may cure it.

check your grounds, and check to see if the amp is at its lowest ohms possible this will enable you to run the amp more efficently
