I'm going to be getting this cheap little pioneer headunit that comes with 4 pioneer speakers, and i'm wondering now if i should replace the stock wiring, and with what brand/type and stuff.

"brand/type and stuff. "

Any brand of wires will work as long as they are of sufficient guage. Contrary to popular belief, cheaper cable are just as good as expensive ones of the same type.

For speaker wire, I say go to walmart and pick up a 50Ft roll of 14 or 16 guage for $10.

I am really hoping your not spending your money on the pioneer package at walmart.   I will be honest with you, its not even worth the $169 or what ever it costs     I had someone come to me about a week ago that put that in there car and wanted to know why it sounded worse then the factory tape player with the blown speakers they had in thier 88 nissan.    I should have to go any further then that

Hah, gotta love downgrading the system for $$. A guy at works keep going with Sony subs from Walmart, driving me crazy. If he'd vest the time in just getting a decent sub or two and the amp I'd set the crap up for him. Anyways, how old is your car? Mine is a 1998, the factory wiring is working very well. Now if you have the time, money, and a competition you might want the new wiring. I was driving like 10k-12k miles a year for 2 years now and my wiring is fine. (I could get to like 60-65% of my volume on my bad head unit with a bad wiring harness before and problem.)

heh, its a christmas gift, not a whole lot i can do about it for now. i think its a holiday sale too, so its like $99.

but its a 94 Saturn SL1. But i highly doubt it oculd possibly sound worse then my blown stock speakers and crappy tape player, but i guess i'll find out. At worst, i'll put off buying subs and buy some Diamond Audio components and an amp for up front, and trash the rear speakers and then go from there.

poorman- why did you tell him to get 14Ga. wire? the wiring harness off the back of the head unit is only like 20-22Ga. and its running like 6watts RMS (maybe?) im not saying not to run new wires, but i dont understand why you sugested wires so big?

when I ren wire a car I typically use 14-16 guage wire, unless it is something like mine when you are giving each component set 300RMS   then I might go a little bigger....but 16 guage iis fine for a re wire if you feel the need to do so, I would wait to re wire till you get your new components you want and an amp
