I just ran two 8 gauge amplifier wires in my 1999 honda accord lx. I got through the firewall easy and ran the wires under the base board. the problem i am having is that the wire is to short to connect to my amp in my trunk. is there a special connection i need to add more 8 gauge wire to my short connection. if i do add more wire will i lose power. what are some other ways of connecting the short wire. i dont want to buy a new kit.

You should have a fuse holder at the battery end of both of those wires with a fuse rated up to 60 amps.  You can connect additional wiring length to the wires already ran by adding another inline fuse holder/fuse, and the fuse rating of the second fuse can be equal to the fuse rating of the amp that the wire is going to, or the same as the first fuse if you have extras of the same size.  This type is not pretty but would do the job.  Power loss by using connectors like fuse holders is so little you wouldn't know the difference.  Any installer, though, would redo the wiring all the way back to the battery, replace the two runs of 8 gauge with one 4 gauge, and split into two 8 ga. outputs at a distro block.

Weeeelllll. the best thing is to have a 1 peice cable, you do get some loss of current when you use a butt connector or solder your cable.  Consider going to a shop and buying some "bulk cable.  Why 2, 8 guage, insted of one 4

Take stevdart's advice and do it right the first time. I know it will cost you more, but you will have far less trouble if you wire it like he suggested.

thank you i probably will run one 4 guage wire into a dist. block. the reason i used two 8 guage is because I had them left over from an old install.
