Subject: help with power wire for ford aux adapter
Date Posted: December 20, 2004 at 11:11 PM

I am installing a PAC AAI-FRDTS in my 2001 ford taurus to create aux inputs for a sirius pnp radio.  adapter seen here: https://www.logjamelectronics.com/pacaaifrdts.html

As part of this install I need to connect the yellow 12v wire to a power wire.  Does this mean I need to run a new power wire from the battery or can I connect to an existing wire used for something else.  I have been reading the posts on power wires and am very confused and obviously new to this.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,  Mark

Is it constant power or remote wire?  Either way I'd imagine that you could just hook it to the radio.  The diagram shows the power and ground wires going off of the OEM plug so maybe you will have to run wires to the battery.  Is the manually operated toggle switch just to turn the power on or off?

I am assuming I would need an ignition only power wire to connect to so it doesn't drain the battery but I am not sure.  The toggle switch is to use the OEM CD changer or the 3 aux inputs.

If I can hook it to an existing wire, does it have to be unused? Or can I hook it to a used power wire.
