I have seen on Ebay a ferw people selling a service that will fix the gears in a CVA-1005. They say thats why the unit will not open on its own anymore. (I have to help it out). My question is, can I fix it myself? is there a trick to fixing the internal gears or whatever is wrong with it before I send it out to someone to get it fixed?

Thanks!

All it is, is that the radio trys to close the face more than it is suppoed to and puts a flat spot on the gears...what you would have to do is call the manufacturer and see if you can get the internall gears...normally the only way you can get these is to actually call them.
