I have purchased one 15" Diamond Audio TDX15D4 subwoofer and am considering buying the Alphasonik PMA800DA to power it. I've read several consumer reviews extolling the virtues of this amplifier and am wondering if anyone with more expertise could comment on using these products together. I've heard that Audiobahn owns Alphasonik, and apparently Audiobahn overrates the capability of their amps.

Also, if I use a ported box with this subwoofer, will I compromise any sound quality? I'm of course interested in both output and sound quality; I've read that with a higher end sub, any difference in SQL is negligible. Thanks for any help!

well it all depends on how well you design your box/ports.    I have found slot ports are alot easier to design if you want to achive some sound quality for daily listening.    I havent used any of the alphasonic amps, but have heard good things about them

What is the price range for slot port boxes? I know I'll have to have something made, but am not sure as to what direction to go in. Are there any advantages to fiberglass enclosures aside from aesthetics? Do you have any idea what these typically cost? Thanks for the help!

Well I normally charge $75 and up for a standard slot ported enclousre.    I really dont get into to much fiberglassing up here, people just dont have the money or the accessability to leave a vehicle for a week on end.    Try to find a local small shop for your box.   Or where are you located?    I have about 7 extra boxes laying around, If your somewhat close shipping wouldnt be to bad

I'm in Vancouver, British Columbia, so I'm not sure what the S/H would be. The manual for the sub doesn't indicate parameters for a vented enclosure; it gives 1.4-3.0 net volume ft. for a sealed enclosure. Am I to assume the dimensions would be the same?

try getting a freeware program like winISD and fooling around with box demensions on there to see what you can come up with

I haven't heard anything bad about them, and i think their pretty good for the money. (Not exactly SQ but they do the trick!) If you got the cash, go JBL. Ultimate budget amps... www.jbl.com
