Subject: which subs?

I am planning on buying some new subs.  I was planning on going with the Kicker CVR 12s but then a friend told me the JL audio 12s would sound better.  I had two JL Audio 12 W0 that I sold, (Kicking my self).

I am thinking of going with two Kicker CVR12 2ohms or two JL Audio W3-v2 2ohms.  I am planning on getting a JL Audio 500/1 amp.  Would would you recomend, I will be putting them in a ported box (I hope, sealed for sure).

Any info on the two types of subs would help me out.  Thanks for your time, Daniel Morton.

Well you dont really need 2 subs, the best combo I can think or to go on a jl500/1 would be a single JL w6v2    You will be able to power it nicly and should be alot cleaner then 2 w3's and with a properly designed box have a greater output then those subs as well

Have you tried modeling them out in software? I really think more people would benefit from doing this. Most software does not account for environmental variables that can lead to cabin gain and cancelation, but you can start to get an idea of the amount of output and extension you'll have given subs and a variety of enclosures.

Check out WinISD pro (or something similar) if you're at all interested in becomming a little more sophisticated w/ your driver questions and selection. It is quite helpful to see two subwoofer's estimated SPL curves on the screen at the same time and see the theoretical effect of the box, crossover used, multiple drivers, power, etc.

I tried checking out the WinISD web site but wasnt sure what I was doing.  Do you know about how much the W6 runs.  What kinda box should I put it in a ported or sealed box.  And one other question about it what ohms should I get one the W6.  Thanks for your time, Daniel Morton.

I'd go with 2 Adire Shiva's, they are $125 a piece and they will sound better than any of those subs if you put the right power to them and the right enclosure. Check them out at www.adireaudio.com - Tony

I agree with uthinkuknoaudio..you can't beat the Shivas for the price IMO.

I want to thank you for the info.  If I will be able to buy anything it will have to be a little later in life.  Funds running bone dry right now.  I will be sure to get back with yall on what I should do, and get.  Thanks again, Daniel Morton.
