Hey everyone, I have a big problem...

I just got my new car stereo (Alpine CDA 9831). Got the install kit from Scosche off of sounddomain.com. Anyways, I have a 1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee. I went to install the stereo today, disconnected the battery neg., removed factory stereo, spliced wires to appropriate wires on the harness based on matching diagrams for the factory wires/alpines wires.

It all connected and seemed like it would work. I go to my battery and re-attach the negative terminal. Immediately, my headlights start rapidly blinking (about a blink every second) and inside on the dash my instrument cluster is also blinking. The highbeams turn on, and my factory Security light turns on.

When I disconnect the neg. terminal, it stops again. I don't know what I did wrong, but I think it may have something to do with my factory alarm. It's just a crappy horn alarm that goes off when it shouldn't and doesn't when it should.

Anyways, I really need this fixed because I have to drive my car tomorrow to go to Christmas dinner!

Please respond quickly, thanks.

I still don't understand why the headlights/instrument cluster lights would be flashing! Should I try turning the car on?

Did you get the Schoche wiring harness or just the installation kit ?

If it is a factory alarm that was installed at the plant then you should be able to turn the key in the drivers door to the unlock position and it should disarm. If it is was installed at the dealership or elsewhere then you may need a remote to disarm the alarm. If that is the case you will be in trouble as you may not be able to get that without some work. I would take a look under the dashboard by the steering column and see if you find a box with aftermarket wires coming out of it. If so, put your hands on it and if it feels like it is clicking with the lights that is your alarm brain. Unplugging it should eliminate it unless it has the starter ran through it so try starting your car. If it starts, cool. If not, you will have to have someone come to your house and eliminate the starter kill.

I got it to stop blinking by turning the key, thanks.

However, the install didn't work right. I got just the Scosche install kit, the deck (alpine 9831) came with a harness. I figured I'd use that one? I hooked up all the wires according to this sites 1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee wiring hookup. Though according to the diagram on the stock stereo, there's differences of opinion between this sites hookup, and the factory stereos. Some Right Front - and Left Rear - or something was switched around, and the illumination was different. I used this sites, however. After hooking it all up, the stereo turns on, I can press all the buttons, it lights up, clock works, it reads cd's, but there is no sound at all.

Mind you I still have the stock amplifier under the back seat, I haven't even touched that. Do you need to bypass this in some way, and run off of deck power?

Thanks

The OEM amp wire is on the BLACK plug , LIGHT GREEN and is a (+) trigger. Use the remote wire to power this wire up.

Flip the blue wire on your Sony for the blue/white one. Blue wire only sends 12v when the tuner is on.
