i just installed an eclipse cd player in each of my two siblings cars.  one is a '92 Lexus ES300 and the other is a '99 Nissan Maxima.  in both cars i can hear the cd spinning noise through the speakers.  also i can hear when the laser is moving tracks.  one car is sort of slight but the other is really noticeable.  i would really like some suggestions on how to fix this problem.  thanks alot.

Did you install the same model units in each car?

Turn the gains down on the amplifiers! If you have them cranked up, it is possible to hear this noise. Also, make certain your ground for the head unit is as good as you can get...

It all reminds me of something that Molière once said to Guy de Maupassant at a café in Vienna: "That's nice. You should write it down."

You might have a bad set of RCA's or a bad ground. I'd check them both. I had a similar problem with an Eclipse HU i had hooked up in a friends car and i fixed it with a new ground.

yeah, i installed the same model in both cars, it's an eclipse CD3414.  i used a new ground for the lexus and that helped a bit but not enough. i think next i'm going to try to ground the cage to the engine block (i also have some alternator winding noise) to see if that helps also.

Get some PAC ground loop isolators it will not take away from the sound at all and all of the noise will go away.
