I am considering these two alpine subs and I was wondering what would give me the loudest and clearest sound.

 Soundstream Rubicon 1000x1 @ 1 or 2 ohm

raw volume 2 type R's ported. Type X drops really low but it is power hungry

2 type r's would be your best bet. X takes extreme power. I mean ALOT.

I have heard a 10 inch type X outplay some 15" W3v2s. Both subs were recieving 1000 watts (500 to each W3v2) from a JL 1000/1. The W3v2s were in a sealed box and the Type X in a ported.  I'm sure the 15s could be louder in a ported box (or a better sealed one) but the Type X sounded so much better. I would go with two 12" type Rs because they can play extremely loud with 500 watts each. Try a 1.25 cf box and be careful with the gain on the amp.

I already did the comparison between 2 r-12's, and 1 x-12 , , , im going to stick with the 2 R-12's because they can get alot louder because of the difference in air movement.  But i did really like the X for its ability to shake the hell outa everything under 40hz.  Altho, some bass loveing people dislike the X because it plays the bass the way it should be.  It has a nice smooth role off in the 50hz and upper frequencies, , , most other subs just blast those frequencies off at full volume.
