I just got my Focal 165 K2P and I love the way they sound but I hate where they sound. The woofers are in the stock lower door location and i put the tweeters in the triangles for the side mirrors. The sound stage is off, by a room and a half. there is no center to it and it seems unstable. My plan was to install them in the top of the dash but due to depth problems I went with the mirrors. Im now thinking of using PVC pipe rings and using bondoglass to blend them in to the dash top, but i don't know how that would look. If you have any input on how to get proper staging please let me know. Im i on the right track wanting to move the tweeters there or will the windshield blur the sound?

What are ya powering em with.....got any space for a center channel?

Throw the phase of the pass side tweeter "out of phase". Theresa Hepner formerly from Xtant, now with Rockford told me that once.

Also whats the deck.....anny time delay like on the upper line pioneer. (listening posistion)

its a car PC so I might be able to do time delay. I will be running a Dolby 5.1 set up for movies and DVD-Audio. What i don't under stand is, if my sound stage with only the focals is off how will adding a center channel do any thing but raise the stage and pull away from left and right seperation.

my setup is;

Toshiba with Intel 933 running light step with NixBlue2 skin, SB Audigy2 NX, cheap 1/4"to RCA patch "just till my new ones show up" For the mids and highs I'm running an Eclipse 3422 bridged pushing Focal 165K2P, for a sub i have a 8w7 in a ported box driven by a JL 500/1. and I'm diehard SQ.

I would rather move all the speakers to get proper stage than install new hardware, If i cant get one set of components to sound convincing then how do you think my 5.1 would sound?
thanks for your input. I'll Play with it a little today and see what i can come up with.

and happy new year

Just remember.....it only has to sound good from the drivers seat.

A lot of that stuff sounded slightly greek to me......( I'm old school)   before the whole 9.1 or 7.3 or 5.1 stuff. Like you I'm a SQ guy.....not much boom for me!

What I understand from your post is eclipse 3422  your focal 165 high power and your (sub)   does it make enough basssssss for ya?   The JL 500.1 is GREAT!!!

5.1 is hard to do in ANY kind of vehicle. It requires equall power to ALL channels to sound "perfect"........so perfection is hard to achive. Sounds like your goin the right direction.. keep up the good work..BUT slow down...K
