Hello all, I have 2 8 inch subs in a ported box with a 100 watt amp all fosgate Iam running a factory head unit and my question or statement is this. I wanted to hook my rca wires to my factory speaker wiring so I purchased a set of rca female ends, wired them up and pluged my cables in , when I turned on the key to see if it worked I heard loud cliking sound from the rear speakers so I went to the back and noticed smoke coming out of the amp not sure why but shut key off and it stoped smoking.
any thoughts would be greatly helpful

Umm, you may have fried the inputs on that amp. To properly hook that amp up to a factory deck you need to use a aftermarket line level converter which is a box that you hook up to change speaker wire signal to RCA line level signal. Simply splicing RCA ends onto the speaker wires is a serious nono. Get a high level converter, hook it up right and se if the amp still works, if not it will have to be repaired.

Electronics work on smoke, When you let the smoke out they quit working. Kiss that one goodbye. I have had a few people here in town come to me with the same issue, I just shake my head.

if you know the magic words, the enchanted smoke will turn into a genie and grant you 3 wishes, one of them better be a new amp cause that one is toast.
