I am planning on building  fiberglass speaker pods for my alpine spx-177a How critical is it that I get the proper internal volume.  It says .33 cuft.

This is the second time i will be making these, I learned a lot of little things in the first attemp that i would now do differently, They came out good but I want to make something less noticable. I removed a panel that will give me more debt to work with.  I did not figure out the internal volume but for some reason i think it is too small.  They sometimes sound almost like they are to tight or something.  It also could be that i am not used to having midbass since this is the first time i have sealed enclosures up front.

you can try adding poly-fill or something similar, that's a cheap subsitute for bigger volume.

Also, they may not be too tight, it's hard to tell.  You can use water to figure out the actually internal volume, and then see if it is really too small.

I have read that some people put a hole in the pod venting into the carpet to make it sound differently
