I currently have a alpine cda-7863 hu installed in my cav, and i am getting ready to upgrade to the cda-7893 hu.  I noticed that the wires are the same on both head units, except for the 7893 has a couple of extra wires which are blank on the 7863 (which i am assuming are some added features), my question is are these harnesses still interchangable?

Thanks

Yes, they should be interchangable.  Of course, you won't be able to take advantage of whatever extra features those extra wires offer.  Also, if the harness has any type of inline filter block, make sure they both look the same.

one extra wire is a cell mute one is a illumination wire that the 7863 dont have.i cant remember if the 7863 has the v-drive60w amp or not if it dont you might want to switch the harness. it not a big deal to swap harnesses out any way....
