Hey everyone, I have four Infiniti Kappa speakers that I replaced my factory speakers with, that are rated at 100 W RMS (300 max) and I will be getting a 10" or 12" sub that I will be putting into a sealed box. Not sure how much power handling it will have, probably somewhere in the 250-300 watt range. I would like to buy a four channel amp to power the satellites, and a mono amp for the sub.

Any recomendations on quality but moderately priced amps for this purpose? I don't want junk, but I don't want to overpay for watts I'm not going to need either.

MRD-M301 for the sub .  And MRV-F340 , or MRV-F540 for the speakers.  All Alpine.

Also, Infinity now has a 5/6 channel amp that would be perfect also.  The 5760a runs for about $475 MRSP  Its 56w x 4, and a 275w bridged sub output.  Rateings are true RMS.

Is there any disadvantage to running the sub channel bridged? Is this less reliable than other types of connections?

one more thing, would you guys recommend trying to power the Kappa's at 100 RMS? Or would about 50-75 be plenty for them? Right now I am just running them from my Pioneer DEH-7600MP head unit at 22 RMS and they definitely could use more power. Thanks.

after deck power, a true 50-75 watts rms would light a fire under those components! of course you can never have too much power, that said i would recommend a 2 amp phoenix gold setup. an x100.4 @100 rms per, and the x600.1 @600rms mono.  i know you said 250-300, but youll want more sub later! bon apetit!

50 watts would be perfectly fine for the kappas. Most people, listening at moderate volume levels, will never even pull (a true) 30w to the components unless they listen at very high volumes.

For every doubling of power you only gain 3db of max SPL! 3db is very small. Blows my mind that more people don't understand this. I guess we can attribute it to good marketing from the manufacturers who cry, "more power."

That said, a 100x4 amplifier, in my opinion is overkill for those components. Same with 600w to the subwoofer. Unless you plan to compete, try to boom down the block to impress the high school girls, or are simply out to kill your hearing, you'll never need it or miss it.

Why don't YOU get yourself a 5 channell amp.......crossfire makes the 705x. The 5th cahnnel is a class"D" 2ohm,300watts  +4x65 for the sattelites. This is a KooL amp.

Easy insltall, 1 footprint, 1 pwr.cable, no dist blocks.......and GREAT sound!
