The JBL is the biggest I heard of. Amazingly enough sony used to make a real power house in their ES line that ran around 4000-5000 RMS and were about the size of a decent sized coffee table top and were about 5 inches thick. They were a real site to see but are quite rare. I think there are like 6 in Canada and two are owned by one shop. Cant remember the model number though.

anyone ever heard of that Dr. Crankenstein amp a few years back, I don't think it could produce that power but I think the price tag was in the six figure range?

The DR Crankenstein amp wasnt 6 figures it was 5 and I remember that damn thing. It was physically huge and came in a large wooden crate. I wish I could remeber what kinda power it did because it was really impressive. BTW Earthquake also used to make an amp in the 5000-6000 watt  range, dont know if they still do or not. And I am going to say it before anyone else does, Audiobahn makes one that they CLAIM will do 5000 watts but we dont even need to get into how much bullsh*t that is.

The Phoenix Gold MPH10K is the largest amp that I've ever seen actually produce the power that it's rated for.

Ughh!!  I hate trying to read white letters on a gray background in 6 point type.  When are these other webmasters going to wake up and look at the12volt for a model of how a forum should be done?

It puts out 20,000 watts for a little under 30 second at a .25 Ohm load off of a minimum of 55 amp alternator.

It does this by storing a charge in quick discharge chambers and then lets rip. It will then recharge in a few minutes on the stock alternator.

too massive for my vehicle.

Soundstream's XXX series does 5000watts @ 4ohm
and they also have a 8500watt sub to make use of all that power.
probably not the most powerful, but im sure some people's ears hurt after listening to it.
