Somethings not right

Ok, so I was lookin at my door speaker today when I turned on my system. For a while now, i've had a little pop sound when the system gets turned on, but when I was watching the speaker, I noticed something, right before the pop, my speaker pulls in on itself, the pops back out. I have never in my life seen that happen before, what is it, and how do I fix it??

Sounds to me like an unstable power supply or potentially defective protection circuit in your amplifier. *YOU* will not be able to fix it, if it is even bad. Could be the amp is just built that way (should not be, and not likely). But if you are really worried about it (and personally, I certainly would be) call the manufacturers tech support line and see what they say. You COULD place a huge value capacitor in the positive speaker lead, effectively placing a 50Hz passive crossover on it - a 1000 microFarad cap will give you around 40Hz at 4 ohms. It'll waste a bunch of power, BUT, it'll do as a stopgap measure to protect your speaker.

well that sucks big ones. So it would be a good idea to get a new amp??  Do you think Planet Audio is overpriced?? Lots of folks say i'm nuts for liking their stuff, but If I can get the same thing or better for the same price, I guess that makes sense.  ( I will not, however, invest in Sony)

Oh, it's an older one. My dad gave it to me. It's got a gray Chassie, Silver etched aluminum logo, 400x4. PA4004  is the model number 2 ohm stable............................I just noticed something. I'm looking through the instruction manual, and it says I have 40A x 2 Fuse Rating....First of all, there are 2 20's in it, and is that a duble protect system, or is that 80 amps. My 850 watt amp is only 40, surely this thing isn't 80.....or is it? Wow, get back to me if ya can, i'm gonna go double check my fuses.............

Yep, there are 2 20 amp fuses in there, here is a picture of the particular series of amps.........https://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=7946566531&category=38638&sspagename=WDVW    Maybe someone out there has one of these amps, and knows somethin. I'm really confused now. The book says a pair of 40's but it's runnin a pair of 20's. I don't wanna put 40's in there and burn it up, but how will I know what's right..........that's what yall are for I suppose. Should I call Planet Audio and ask? or will they know? From what I gather, this is A Saturn Series Amplifier.

Son of a B!t(H !!!! I just realized my amp is 100x4 max, not rms, I'm a dumba$$. Never mind, it is 20 x 2 fusing. It's the Saturn Series 2004 amplifier. But I guess I should still look for a new one eh??

Yeah give PA a call or email, or find a dealer, or electronics repair place that can repair it.  Have no clue on what this would cost though.

Personally, I hold PA with a SLIGHTLY better regard than Boss and that ilk. You can do better for similar money.
