Ok so full on SPL just some of the loudest badest stuff ever to be heard, the atomic loudspeaker series APX 15 D2, possibly even two of them. What type of box so I put them in besides indestructable. Just in case you dont feel like looking it up online it is a 15" SPL compitition rated sub for "16,000" watts for a tone of 3 seconds now I have this problem with trying to think of anything that would last even 3 seconds under that kind of power and air flow, so I have a feeling wood is out of the question. I understand that on the web site they tell me what they recamend but I wanted personal opinions over factory. Dont worry about amps I am just questioning a box right now, Thank you very much.

make a box out of 1/4 plate steel, then build a wood box inside the steel box.   It will weigh like 200 pounds, but hey haha.,....   Or you could double up on 1" mdf all around, use bad ass screws.

I'd do the MDF thing. Maybe 1.5 inches. Dear god, 16,000 watts. Someone must be running at like a quarter ohm lol.

"I don't play games. I play Nakamichi and that for real yo" - Probably some japanese kid said this in the early 80's trying to sell stereo out of his trunk lol.

Actulay the speaker has a 3" SINGLE voice coil rated for 2.0 ohms, I thought it was kind of strage that it was a single voice coil but even weirder that it didnt go below 1 ohm but thats what its rated for and I am definatly pleased with it as it is. I thank you for your imput on how to control this beast, I really had no quick thoughts on what to do with it besides put a crap load of wattage into it and blow everybody else away, so thank you and I will give that a try when I find enough 1 to 1.5 inch MDF, hopefully I will let you know how it went also.

that didnt come out right,      just double up 3/4 for each wall of the box.    that is your 1.5 inch MDF.    I ordered 1.5 MDF one time I will never do that again, try $60 per sheet!    1 inch is about $35-$40 a sheet and 3/4 if a order a skid is about $10 a sheet, but per sheet even at home depot or wherever its about $18-$22 a sheet

... or, since it's a pure SPL driver, just IB it in the rear shelf and use the trunk as an "enclosure."

Yah, I would like to just kind of throw it in the back of my trunk and hope for the best in a sealed box, or even just a full open and run it as a partial free air sub, boy I wish I could make it that easy, but I have a Xterra(suv) and I am trying to keep it simi stock(meaning I thought about a full rack system but decided aginst it because I like cargo space). So I figure that I will try the double up on the 3/4 mdf possibly because just as you said uhhhh 1"+ is..... wow, really expensive and is a "special order" so I might have to wait 2 to 4 weeks just to get some(ha ha ha, wait for it), but do you think that I need anything in between the two boards? like a sealent or sound dampiner or just hopes and dreams that I dont get some weird vibrations. Now with the doubling up on boards should I be running a sealed, ported, or sloted encloser, I am not sure which I really want to go for but I do know I want spl over sq and I would like something that is not a permenate fixture in the back of my truck just something to control this beast. THANK YOU ALL FOR YOUR HELP.
