Ok. ive had it with buying off ebay. I bought a phoenix gold tantrum 300.2 amp off ebay it doesnt work at all. must of been damaged in shipping. the power light comes on but when connected the sub doesnt work just moves a bit but no bass. Anyways the sub is a JL 12W3V2 D2 in a ported 2.0ft^3 box. since that amp didnt work my sub "lent" me his extra phoenix gold t300.2 and we hooked up in place of dead amp and the subs is pounding. he told me he will sell it to me for 210CDN. it does about 340WRMS*1 @ 4 ohms. THen i saw a add for a Rockford Fosgate H360.2 Power Amplifier. it says it can do 360*1WRMS @4ohms its probably underrated. anywyas he wants 230CDN for it shipped and gurantees it agains DOA seller is a sales rep for rockford out in BC, Canada. anyways i ve read alot that this JL can take 400WRMS easily and i wont damge the sub. it is rated in the manula for 300WRMS max. but many ppl reccomend on this site that i can get a 400WRMS*1 4ohms amp it would be good. anyways i dont know which one to buy now. since UPS claim takes 20days i wont get my money for the damaged amp for atleast another 10 business days. im doubting the rockford and so is my friend beacuse the pg amp's are suppose to be much better in quality than the rockfords. anyways any help will be greatly appreciated.

sorry must of got off track which amp shoould i buy i have two choice my friends PG TANTRUM t300.2 it iwll do 340WRMS*1 4ohms or A rockford H360.2 does 360*1WRMS but on birth sheet seller says its 400+WRMS my sub is a JL12W3V2 it does max 300WRMS on manual over the the two amps which one shoud i buy which one is better is rockfords quality as good as phoenix ? the price differnce between the two is 20CDN 210CDn for pg and 230CDN for rockford. since this is a old rockford amp about 3 years i dont know if its good or not. overall what amp do you guys reccomend?

I'd go fosgate... i've just have had more luck with them then PG for some reason. They are good amps, i stand behind them. $230 CDN ain't bad either.

the thing is it is used and he will only gurantee agaisnt DOA. thats why im a bit worried about it.

Aren't both of them used? Anyway, I'd go with RF, but if you are wary of it you have heard the PG haven't you? If you like the way it sounded and think the RF might not be in good shape(?) When you are dealing with used amps you are just taking a chance. Me, it would be the RF.

yes my friends is used but it is workign and rarely do phoenix gold amps fail.

Actualy, ,Phonex Gold is in first place for reported amp failures among the american brands haha. So.... i belive your responce should say "and rarely do phoenix gold amps NOT fail"

but i thought the amps that were built in the US and not china were of higher quality maybe my friend is just convincing me to buy his amp. Alpine guy: but if i buy the rockford illbe putting 400WRMS at 4 ohms into a sub that takes 300WRMS max as stated in manaul will the rockford potentially blow my sub?

H360.2? I had one of those about 3 or 4 years ago when they were current! Go to a real rf dealer and get a new amp with a real warranty, it's worth the extra $, if it's one sub: look at the P3001.

p 3001 will not fill my needs its either 150 WRMS at 4 ohms or 300 at 2 ohms i can wire my sub either 1 or 4 ohm load. thanks for ur help. oh the h360.2 has never been used that the guy is selling.

go with the rf, it is far better , the extra wattage will not hurt your sub, just set the gains right

The Rockford was sold by that guy i told him i would buy it but im strapped for spending money right now. Since wiith borrowing my friends PG t300.2 it does 340WRS at 4 ohms bridged. since adding this amp my lights dimp gain is set correctly. when i play ludacris heavy bass and when the sub hits my god damn lights dim like hell. i was wondering weather i should just give my friends pg amp back and not buy it off him and get a CLASS D amp that will do 400WRMS @ 1ohm. i am able to wire my sub for either 4 or 1 ohm load. i heard that maybe a class D amp is WAY more efficient than my current amp beacuse i cannot afford to buy a HO alternator at the monent.
