You think I could get away with powering a brahma 10 on a Zapco 500/1?

Sure you could.  That's a great amp.

Fantastic amp. Fantastic Sub. Depending on your goals, maybe not the best combination for the money.

At 82db efficient the Brahma is really a quite inefficient subwoofer. Fantastic quality, huge SPL potential, can fit in very small boxes, but all of these positives come at a price of efficiency. This sub / amp combination is totally fine if your goal is moderate volume sound quality. In fact, I have no doubts that combination will be AWESOME for this purpose. I'd go for it, no questions asked - I value SQ way more than SPL.

If your goal however, like many people's goals when buying a Brahma, is some amount of hair-raising SPL, the 360w at 4-ohms the 500/1 puts out might cause the entire system to fall well below your SPL expectations - well below. MANY subwoofers, quite a few priced at less than half the price of the Brahma, have more desirable frequency response curves in a .707 sealed box w/ 360w to the system.

Anyway, I'm not trying to discourage you from buying either the sub or the amp, which are both at the high end of their class - I'm just trying to help you realize what your expectations should be before buying.
