Man, I've been searching for the right amp and sub for my Explorer for two weeks and I can't make up my mind on which ones to go with. Everytime I think I have it nailed something happens that makes me change my mind. I keep going to local stores and looking, but nothing seems that great for my budget. I've noticed the Infiniti Reference series amps are pretty inexpensive and seem to have good options...CEA compliant, etc.. Are these amps any good? I've also seen Alpine V series amps that seem to be in my price range. I know this is general, but I don't have the sub yet and I'm looking at around 2-300 watts into the sub. It would be nice to get some watts into my satellites also, but I'm mainly looking for the sub and an amp to power it.

Here's some help with the analysis:
1) Evaluate your goals.
2) Determine your max / target enclosure size.
3) Select a subwoofer that operates well with the previous two goals in mind.
4) Select the subwoofer amp.
In other words, select the driver and driver application first - it will determine what kind of amplifier you should look at.
Hope this helps.
