I am wondering, could you put a properly rated fuse inline between the power posts and the voice coil to prevent from "blowing" the speaker?

Does this make any sense, or am I just babbling again:o)

Theoretically, yes. Practical, no.

why's that?

The reason I brought this up is because I have a pair of Cerwin Vega house speakers that have inline fuses on all the drivers. I would think that it would help to protect the driver from... Possibly the amplifier clipping...=2.5 times normal power. Or possibly just over powering the speakers.

Has anyone else thought, or tried doing this?

I bet you'd be able to market these inline fuses for alot of money posted_image

Of course.  It's done all the time, especially in pro audio.  HERE's a reference for you.
