I started building this today https://img.photobucket.com/albums/v521/customsuburb/IMG_0525.jpg

That was taken when I was seeing if it would all fit so everything is just fitted in roughly. I still have to screw it togethor and listen to it so I'll post back later.

A big thanks to Haemphyst, LL Beer J off of the sound domain forum and my dad for helping me build it!

Looks good, man! Hope it sounds good for you as well! TL enclosures can be VERY satisfying, as they are a tremendous amount of work, with generally good results! Glad I could help!

Sorry. I should have said more in that last post. I'm going to be using an 8 inch JL W0 sub with a tiny Alpine 3523 amp. I read through this a little bit: https://forum.sounddomain.com/forum/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=11;t=070826 but it was for making a snail shell (a transmission line with a small amount of a rear loaded horn characteristics).

A big thanks to the people on www.diiyaudio.com also

Let us know the finished result.  You got me wondering about trying that too, now.  I see your project plans in the background of that pic...lots of fun doing a project!

So far I've only listened to it with an Onkyo home reciever (getting about 40 to 50 watts continuous) and It sounds great! It's tuned to 40 hz and has a tight and punchy sound but I can make the doors and windows rattle with low bass also. It's hard to believe that only an 8 inch woofer is playing.  posted_image

I would highly reccomend building one. I did mess up the angle of one of the interior boards. If anyone wants the plans for a transmission line box for a JL W0 8 PM me.

And again a big thank you to LL Beer J and Haemphyst and the people on Diyaudio.com!

that looks like a great build up man, i used to know a guy that built those all the time for subs, the last one he made was about the size of a 10 inch sub with supposedly a 15 foot port snaked around inside of it, it was roughly 12 inches by 12 inches by i think 30 inches long with a 3 or 4 inch square port, very very impressive bass using a 10 and a 500 watt amp i wasnt aware a sub could get that low and stay that clean, his were tuned alot lower than 40 hz though i beleive he was getting readings down to 15 hz with decent sound at least, i never heard it play that low :) i've been wanting to build a box like his for along time and never got around to it but i may just have to try it now that i've seen yours :).

I've been reading about these as well.  Havent gotten into the equations yet, though I'm still collecting as much data on the sub woofer I have.  Actually I have 2, they are Eclipse 8615 8ohm subwoofers.  15" size, and they are from like 98 or so.  There lower end line.

I've got these ones.  https://www.freewebs.com/eclipse-car/86ts.htm

So if anyone has more info on them.  Other than me contacting Eclipse, which I may do soon.  Please PM me.

I'll probably see what the estimated sizes are, then think about using one or two in the box, or 2 seperate boxes.  As they are right now, they dont play loud at lower waves, mostly a mechanical distortion.  They play stuff from the mid 30's and up really easily.  Though, at lower volumes they play the lowest stuff without any noticable distortion, mechanical or otherwise.

The Qts on those drivers is FAR too high for them to go in a TL. That driver was specifically designed for a sealed box. You COULD try them in a TL, but I am willing to bet your results would be pretty unacceptable.
