I have a power acoustic FUBR-12 which has a dual 2 ohm voice coil and a 700watt RMS, 1800 watt max.

The way I figured what amp to use was. 700 watts multiplied by 2 ohms and divided by 2 voice coils. so a 700 watt amp.

Is this the correct way to figure the amp wattage?

Any suggestions will be greatly apreciated.

Wattage ratings on DVC subwoofers is generally listed as the total capacity for both voice coils.  So your woofer is capable of max sustained 350 watts per voice coil.  You want an amplifier capable of 700 watts into a 4-ohm load, or of 700 watts into a 1-ohm load (depending on how you wire the sub.)

so, wired in parallel would need a 700 watt amp with a 1 ohm load, and in series a 700 watt amp with a 4 ohm load. Right?

Correct!  Any amp UP TO 700 watts.  Less is fine if it's setup properly.
