Hey everyone. I'm new to the game and I have a 2001 ford ranger regular cab with an aiwa deck, rockafella power speakers in the doors and sony xplods in the back.  I also have 2 jl 8wO's in a sealed box that is 41 inches wide 9 inches tall 3.5 inches deep at the top and 6 inches deep at the bottom.  Its powered by a jl e1400.  I'm happy with the setup but are there any other 8 inch subs that will hit harder than what I have and still fit in my box?

Thanks.

You should be enjoying 400 watts going to your subs.  You must have 8 ohm subs, and they are well powered for their 75 wRms values.  Probably a little too well.  They should perform in a vented enclosure instead of sealed.  Most 8" subs would work better vented.  Search for subs with SVC 4 ohms each, RMS of at least 200 watts each, that are recommended for a sealed box.   You will want to parallel wire to a total 2 ohm load for that amp for the 400 watts you're looking for....None right off the top of my head but I'll put some thought into it.

Also, determine the thickness of the box, and figure the dimensions internally for a total cubic foot volume, for a volume size you can try to match woofers up with.

I just checked those out at JL...the 8 ohm models will be fine in a sealed box, but the 4 ohm models tend more to want a vented box.

if you could find a treo of old 8w6's that would be the perfect match with that amp.    I used to have a set of 3 of these subs and when I would show people they were 8's not 12's or 15's they were really confused!

I was hoping to find a better set of subs that I can still use my old box and amp with.  If the subs are nice then It doesn't matter how much they cost.

How deep are they?  Do you think I can handle four? because my box is set up with two subs kindof toward the middle and I think I could put a sub on each side.

Damn right......i'm runnin one ported and people say it sounds like a pair of 10's. Those things would stomp all over the W0's. 4 of em would be excellent. If you're interested i'll hook u up with an RE dealer.

8W7 or 8W6 are both fantastic woofers. Highly recommended by me (and that is saying something especially how i can't stand JL lol)

If you want to try your hand at building a box you could make a tranmission line box. They are pretty loud (alot louder then sealed) but ported would probobly be easier. I made a transmission line box for my JL W0 8 and its louder then the 12 W0 I had in my car.

I just posted results on how mine turned out. Search the forum for transmission line. If you search under message body instead of tilte you will get more results.

Yeah.  I definately don't have enough room behind my seats in my reg. cab ranger for that.  Looks good though.
